Open maps vs. tight maps

Open maps (Abandoned Street, Graveyard, Broken Highway, Impact Crater) give you room for wide kiting loops. They are the best place to learn the game and to practise movement.

Tight maps (Underground Facility, Military Base, Dead Mall, Silent Suburb) reward holding a corridor so zombies come from one side, and punish getting caught in a room. Fast weapons and Pierce upgrades do well here.

Hazard maps (Burning Refinery, Impact Crater, Mutated Research Facility) add floors that hurt you. Learn their layout before pushing for high waves.

Where to start

Begin on Nightfall Avenue or Abandoned Street. Both are open and readable, so you can learn the enemy types and practise circling. Move to corridor maps once kiting feels natural, and try the hazard maps last.
